Türkiye has long demonstrated political will and diplomatic enterprise in its multiple mediation and conflict resolution activities and in its foreign policy in general. The country’s geostrategic role as the easternmost European and westernmost Asian country, as well as its global diplomatic network and simultaneous membership of key international institutions, make Ankara’s position uniquely important for the future of Europe’s security order.
As Turkish foreign service celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2023 under the slogan “embodying a bridge between the tradition and the future”, the discussion organised jointly by the Minsk Dialogue Council on International Relations, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in the Republic of Belarus, and the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries will focus on Ankara’s views on how to bridge various visions of future European security.
The discussion will launch a new initiative by the Minsk Dialogue Council on International Relations. It will aim to explore the forward-looking visions of future European security across national and alliance borders and highlight areas where they, in essence, overlap despite diverging security narratives. Through a series of events, podcast discussions, and publications we will take a closer look at what different national capitals and international institutions expect from a future European security arrangement and whether their expectations can be bridged within a common visionary framework.
